Portholes | Greenland to Iceland, October 2026
During a voyage from East Greenland to Iceland, I photographed through the portholes of the ship. The window did not simply frame the landscape. Waves, spray, condensation, marks on the glass and changing light repeatedly altered what could be seen.
In some photographs, sea and weather remain recognisable. Elsewhere, the view dissolves into colour, movement and texture. The surface of the glass becomes as prominent as the world beyond it. Moments of relative clarity sit alongside images in which the subject is almost impossible to identify.
Presented together as nine circular views, the photographs retain a constant frame while allowing what appears within it to change. The work is concerned less with the places passed than with the unstable conditions under which they become visible.
